AstraZeneca is seeking an External Communications Lead to lead communications for Russia & Eurasia markets.
Reporting to the Market Access and Corporate Affairs Director, Russia & Eurasia this position plays a leadership role to:
- Proactively shape and protect our corporate reputation, including our leading position in science and innovation, our areas of therapeutic focus, sustainability and as an employer of choice;
- Develop and implement tailor-designed Communications strategy, aligned with the AstraZeneca International Corporate Affairs strategy and AstraZeneca Global Corporate Affairs strategy;
- Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leadership of the company;
- Responsible for managing company’s press office and overall media activity in Russia & Eurasia. Act as company’s spokesperson in front of the media;
- Develop corporate speaker pool, manage speechwriting for company’s leaders, organize participation in events and awards, ensure follow-up in media;
- Develop and control execution of multiple disease awareness campaigns;
- Build an industry-leading function: develop team of 5 to deliver effective Comms strategy in Eurasia region.
- Manage the communications budget, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources.
Essential for the role:
- 10-12 + years public relations/communications experience working in a fast-paced in-house or agency communications team
- Excellent written and verbal English communications skills
- Expertise in developing and delivering innovative and impactful communications strategies
- Sound judgment combined with strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities, stakeholder & colleague expectations
- Self-starter with proven ability to work independently and flexibly, think ahead, engage proactively and take initiative
- Track record of developing high-performing teams
- Capable of achieving results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often on short deadlines
- Comfortable operating in a matrixed environment, act as a trusted advisor and handle sensitive information
